Yes, I still work on images and do photography. As I stated in the last post, I am working on all Family and images I have already taken. And making a Portfolio system for myself and for my family. So that all money and time I have spend are also usable for my family.
My workflow is in 2 catalogs, one working catalog then the portfolio catalog where the final destination for images and videos. The main important part of all workflows is to have a backup system that works.
I have been so busy editing, That in the last 21 days I had edited and worked with 108GB files which are output. That is about 9500 images. This means a total of 18950 files included Sidecar XMP files which are archived.
I have made a pretty good workflow system, witch is almost perfect for everyone, If you feel that you need a workflow system or an update to your own system. Just ask. Im happy to help.
It seems that I am not a person who likes to spend time on social networks like Facebook and Instagram. Which I thought was good for my hobby. Social places on the web are great for many people, but for me who is a perfectionist, I use more time on a post on the network than creating an image or music.
And with new algorithms on Facebook and other places, only if you are active all the time your post will be shown on others’ timeline. And also I can clearly see a decrease in my personal post response. With that in mind, it is time to move forvard and use time on personal projects and family.
I made a recording of bass guitar on Youtube video. Witch, I have thought to do it for a long time. and now in Corona days I actually got time to do it.
Some of my Youtube followers have been asking for instrument notes. so I found a way to share my notes, which are written by me. and for this song, you can find it on the download page for free. https://notebook.emayavan.com/download/
The idea with sharing notes is for those who are not able to write down or have access to do that. so it will make it easy. and if I can get someone else to play bass better, so why not ;). I will also try to implement the Guitar Tab system as well as the Staff notation.
The cover image of me is taken on a rehearsal session for Alaypaayuthea II in Denmark by a wonderful Vocalist, Musician, and photographer Stephanie Githa Nadarajah. https://stephaniegitha.com/
I am a big fan of Ibanez Bass Guitars, and Specifically those in SR Series.
I moved much toward photography when I got my camera. But that is where I understood the importance of music in my life. It always gave me peace and a relaxed mind and now I am trying to do something with that.
Whenever I do play something with my instruments and software. I will post my music here and share my thoughts.
This birthday shoot changed my photography. I said yes to take this client’s work because of his daughter, who I was the second shooter for her wedding. Since her beautiful wedding and their experience with my photography, they book me for their family events. And I am very happy that they did this time also.
This is the first time I shoot a 70th birthday event. And I didn’t know much how I could take a portrait of the birthday baby today. but I went with what I felt right. After taking some indoor shots and details. I took them as a couple out for a small shoot. I just told them to be on some places so that I could check the lighting and stuff and talked with them.
After 4 to 5 minutes I was done, and they were asking are we gonna take images or this is not a good location. I smiled and said. I got all the shots I needed and showed some images back of my camera and they were amazed.
And I showed their daughter some images as well on camera, and the words she told. “Jeg har aldri sett them smile slikt” That is what makes me proud and authentic. And very happy that I could deliver them images with pride!
I have never been happier after an event shoot, And I am very thankful for getting this kind of shoot.
With beautiful wedding memories in my mind, I am taking a break from weddings. Since I am a hobby pro photographer, bassist, father to 2 wonderful girls and having daily work to go to, I choose to use more time on my family and kids while they are kids. And I will be back soon or after.
I took this wedding because it is very special to me. She used to be a model for my hobby projects. And I told her that time that I will be her photographer for their wedding day. Little did I knew that my words will become true and that they will have me on their big day to photograph their event.
Met them the first time, when I was out and taking seascape/landscape images at Molnes beach in 2017. They were there with their photographer for their engagement shoot. And I captured this image above with them posing for their shoot. We did say hello and talk a bit after their shoot and showed this image on the back of my camera. and they exchanged their contact information so that I could send them the photograph. That is how we got to know and she became a model for some of my projects.
Wedding photography not only makes you better at photography. You also get to know the people when families and friends are sharing their story witch even makes a photographer emotional.
I am very thankful to get beautiful weddings like this.
I have found out that, I have been very good at delivering clients images within 5 weeks as in written contract. However, I was failing very hard at delivering images that I have been shooting for my family and kids.
Even my main purpose of buying a good DSLR was to shoot my kids and family and since i started shooting for clients I have changed and prioritised clients. Now its time to edit all family images and make a small portfolio to enjoy. and not think about buying new gear or agree to someone for a shoot for free.
I know that this post is not a good one meant for the notebook, but I had to make a statement for my self!. But having images from 2015-2019 in tons of gigabytes on disk, Hurts!.
We took a small picnic trip to Geirangerfjord with family and friends. It is not always I get time to shoot Fineart work when I’m with families and kids, But this time some of the friends went for an indoor swim at a hotel. And we didn’t get that message about swimming so we didn’t bring swimming clothes. But luckily they got “Lekeland” where kids can play all day around.
That gives me the opportunity to sneak out some hours to shoot some landscapes. I went out and came back after 3 hours and smiling big. I could buy a towel and swimming shorts and be with others in swimming pool/Spa, But I’m happy that I didn’t do that. And I learnt that my Sigma 24-70mm works great with Lee filters for long exposure and gives me sharp images.
When we have cold weather like in Norway. We need to have equipment that works and make the job easier. Then it’s quality that matters. Bought this Capture Module Pro witch is in my opinion better choose than Miops triggers. I’m looking forward to having this with me on my fine art journey.
